THE BUSINESS IN THREE STEPS
Buyers pay for a specific use.
Find a clip, check its details and agree on where and how it can be used. A documentary, a social post and an advertisement may need different permissions.
The owner earns. Outtake takes a fee.
Once payment is confirmed, the buyer receives the agreed file and a record of the licence. Outtake deducts a transaction fee and pays the remaining amount to the owner.
Our planned revenue model
Outtake will earn a fee on completed licensing transactions. Listing fees, the transaction rate and payment-processing costs have not been finalised. Any charges will be shown before a contributor accepts a sale or a buyer pays.
There are no paid licensing transactions in the current version. Uploading a file does not create a listing, agree to a future fee or order a service.

We are developing search by place, date and subject, so filmmakers, publishers, businesses and other creators can find recordings that fit their work.

A street, a building, a landscape or a former workplace. Footage from a particular place and time can help tell a story about change.
Another view of the day
Recordings from conferences, performances, gatherings and public events. Permission for identifiable people and the intended use will need to be checked.
Details you cannot recreate
Craft, excavation, manufacturing, travel and everyday scenes. Real recordings can add detail to a film, lesson or business story.
You buy permission to use the footage.
The owner keeps ownership unless a separate agreement says otherwise. The licence will specify the permitted use, channels, duration, territory and whether it is exclusive. Watching a public preview does not give permission to copy or reuse it.

In the planned marketplace, you will choose which clips to list. We plan to use watermarked previews and keep the original download behind the agreed purchase.
Decide how it can be used
Offer only footage you have the right to license. Specify acceptable uses and any restrictions. Some recordings may need further permissions before they can be sold.
Uploading is available now. Public listing and paid licensing are being developed. A clip’s earning potential depends on demand and its suitability for the buyer’s use.

Our first marketplace test will use a small collection of approved footage. We will look for buyers who need particular recordings and test enquiries and agreed licences before opening wider trading.
Our kauri excavation, timber-yard and furniture clips show the idea in practice. They are separate recordings, not the history of a single log.
